Inspired by Vision 2030, and the Kingdom’s strategy to nurture its minerals mining and processing industry through stable and supportive government policy, best in class legislation, and the Kingdom’s vast and growing resources of renewable energy, we see the potential to discover and develop the cleanest mining and processing value chain the world has ever seen, producing the materials to meet the needs of mankind, while supporting the race to Net Zero.
We support new initiatives to explore for resources in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and seek to advance the development of new, green processing technology in the region to develop a sustainable energy future.
Worldwide demand for essential materials to serve the many industries linked to decarbonisation has not been matched by new sources of supply. Among many factors, this failure is the result of insufficient investment in new deposit discovery and the associated downstream processes.
The global interest in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia today stems from the attractiveness of the area’s strong existing infrastructure, availability of low-cost energy and embedded local skills in the design and build of industrial processing capacity.
Equally important is the clear strategy and roadmap to deliver a Minerals Super Region in the Kingdom. A component of Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 includes unlocking the rich blend of natural resources and building new partnerships within the minerals supply chain.
We are deeply encouraged by the Saudi National Strategy, set out by the government to create a more diverse and sustainable economy and use its strategic location to connect three continents.
Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 aims to create a more diverse and sustainable economy. The Kingdom is developing its economy by expanding investment in different sectors that aim to create social and economic benefits to society.
The Kingdom is advancing the mining sector by streamlining license processes and has developed a new mining law inspired by global best practice. The country is also strategically located to be a global centre of trade, creating partnerships across different continents to deliver a responsible and secure supply of value-added products.
The region today has 17 operating mines and sites, producing aluminium, copper, gold, and phosphate, and is host to major mining and processing companies in joint venture with State mining company Ma’aden, including Barrick in Gold and Copper exploration, development and production, and Alcoa in bauxite mining, alumina refining, and aluminium smelting businesses. Multiple new agreements have been signed within months of launching their new mining code, while geological surveys are being undertaken to review Energy Ministry estimates of unused mineral resources valued at 5 trillion riyals ($1.33 trillion)
